This Belongs To - Urban Ownership Workshop at Alternative Party 2010

As part of investigations into public spaces and  relationships with cities, Glittermouse has recently been exploring issues of public ownership via This Belongs To; a public participation project where participants are invited to temporarily claim urban spaces. Recent developments including use of an LED to cast shadows even at night, were made public for the first time at Alternative Party 2010 where visitors were able to join in to stake a claim in the city of Helsinki.

                                  Chorlton's Big Green Festival

Glittermouse invited local residents to celebrate  Manchester by making their own souvenirs in a  free workshop at Chorlton’s Big Green Festival 2010 on March 27th. Participants of various ages learnt basic art  theory and experimented with practical techniques before working with salvaged glass pieces to design and make a craft item which uniquely communicated their favourite places in the local area. The workshop was a clear success with lots of interest from visitors to the festival. All the participants enjoyed the day and most said they would definitely use their new makings skills in the future.
