Having completed work on the Serenity Series, I began making drawings to explore the concepts that I became aware of while making them. Whilst previous work was content to embody purely visual references to Buddhism, using inspiration from Buddhist teachings around impermanence, the new sketches brought in references to ideas beyond the surface of this ancient Eastern philosophy. Focusing on moments snatched from daily, or less daily experiences, they aim to give subtle recognition to the fact that our existence and the world around us is constantly in flux and entirely transient. I then took these drawings and combined them with photographs from the original Peaceful Places series as well as the Serenity Series paintings to produce this new set of five digital collages. The new work will be in display at the Manchester Buddhist Centre's Arts and Imagination Festival show 'Touched by the Dharma' throughout November 2015.
