Eclipsed
For years you hid me,
I lay in the shadows,
Broken, hurt and bruised
I had not a drop of self-respect,
Beaten, cursed and used.
For years, you never told me why
Like a solar eclipse were you and I
Unlike you,
I never knew
That the Sun burns brighter than the Moon.
I escaped by chance,
A twist of fate,
Broken for me were the lies.
I won't forget the day I turned!
The fear inside your eyes!
You didn’t seem to understand,
Tried to mock my rise,
But just like you,
By then I knew
That the Sun burns brighter than the Moon.
Above you I can tower now,
I've gone my own and better way.
You can't reach me anymore.
The eclipse now past,
Returned the day.
