Runderful
Run towards, run away,
Never run, run every day.
Run a business, with a run in your tights,
Run in rural darkness, run in bright city lights.
Run when you can, run when you should not,
Run when it’s cold, run when it’s hot.
Run in rude health, run with a niggle,
Runs in your pants thanks to joggers jiggle.
Run from your demons, run with your friends,
Run straight on canals, run round country bends.
Run on the pavement, run on a track,
Run into a storm or with a breeze on your back
Run with others, run alone,
Run with a Garmin or an app on your ‘phone.
Run barefooted, run in shoes,
Run for joy or to escape bad news.
Run one kilometre or one hundred miles,
Run with a frown, run for the smiles.
Run when it’s lovely, run when it hurts,
Run in a costume, run in technical shirts.
Run by feel or with an eye on the clock,
Run with a blister and a hole in your sock.
Run for a train, run for a bus,
Run covered in gadgets or with minimal fuss.
Run when you can, hop if you can’t
Run in memory of your mate, dad or aunt.
Run on the fells, run in a park,
Run with a purpose, run for a lark.
Run just for yourself or run to raise cash,
Run despite a hangover and a night on the lash.
Run a marathon, run a trail,
Run like a gazelle or an ambitious snail.
Run without stopping, run and walk,
Run for a reason to load your fork.
Run when it’s easy, run when it’s a slog,
Call it a run or call it a jog.
Run in your dreams, run when you first wake,
Run a streak or take a break.
Run on empty, run fuelled with a gel,
Run at your best, run not so well,
Run down a slope, run up a hill,
Run brimming with life, run when you’re ill.
Run dry as a bone, run dripping with sweat,
Run for the races you’ve not run yet.
Run in the sun, run in the rain,
Run for the thrill, run from your brain.
Run for the sake of it, run for the medal,
Run prior to swimming, run fresh off the pedal.
Run on a treadmill or outdoors in all seasons
Run… or don’t; whatever your reasons.
Run a fartlek, run a steady pace,
Run the world, run the human race.
