Section fourteen now in force,
Turn around and walk away
I see you Mara, in your high vis jacket
You may silence us now
But we’ve so much more to say.
You may demand that I desert
Those friends with whom I raise my voice
But that doesn’t mean that we are muted
And that doesn’t mean we have no choice
But to fuel the hate your system’s dealing;
The delusion, confusion, greed and fear,
So don’t believe that you can quash us
We still speak truths the world will hear.
Don’t quote us the Public Order Act.
We are the public, it’s out of order so we’re acting
And we’ll meet you here in love once more
As piece by piece we will dismantle
Machines of oppressive, misused law.
We shall reach out and make connections,
We do not walk these streets alone
And always we’ll remain defiant
Until each forest is regrown.
So you can stop us when we’re walking
And you can move us when we’re still.
You can detain us, you can search us
But you can never break our will
For we are fluid like the rain is,
With inherited strength of a million hearts
And truly we will grow and flourish
Greater as a sum than fragmented parts.
