Last time I posted a preview photo of a new board developed as part of the Hulme Workshops series. The I Hope To See board was produced to facilitate a third and final set of perspectives of Hulme, this time from younger residents. Pupils of Rolls Crescent Primary School have since participated in a series of 6 workshops, in which they used the boards to share their aspirations for the future of their area. Full photos from the sessions are now live online. I am now hoping to begin looking for other opportunities to develop these workshops and explore applications of the boards. These should begin panning out over the course of the next year, so watch this space. |
I have also organised and hosted two further meetings of CRITgroup so far this year, though there is no meeting in March. You can read details of the meetings in the separate CRITblog and register your interest to come along to the April meeting if you are a creative practitioner within travelling distance of Manchester. I have already benefitted from these meetings myself in terms of the feedback I’ve been receiving on a couple of other rather foetal projects and so far, the word from other attendees is that they have also found it very beneficial. If you are a regular visitor to Manchester, you may also be interested to pop into the Chinese Arts Centre on Thomas Street between now and April 13th to have a look at an exhibition of work by students at Tameside College in response to a brief relating to Chinese culture. This is the latest outcome of an on-going partnership between Tameside College and Jiangbin Vocational School in Hangzhou that I have been involved in since last March and there really is some excellent work on display. That’s all for now I think – I’ll hope to have some updates before the start of June! |
