This evening after work, I took myself off on a mission across towards the Mersey to a social run, organised for those participating in the Liverpool Rock 'n' Roll Marathon, for which I shall be4:45 pacer on 14th of June. Thankfully, I found the meeting much more easily than I feared I might and we did four loops (to a total of about 5k) round a lovely, sunny park near St Michael's, the Liverpool Festival Gardens. |
That may not sound like much but it involved a trot up (and then down) quite a steep set of stairs... topped off with with a little up hill jaunt! It wasn't too much of a trial however as we lucky to be treated to some fresh (honestly, the rep explained they were warm as they'd only just been produced, not because they'd been sat in his car all the way from Leicester!) High5 gels to power us up them! Most importantly, I got to try on one of the flag pole straps (no flags or poles unfortunately) that I shall be running with. I shall have to invest in some Vaseline I think, else I predict neck blisters! I'm glad I got to run in it, but it wasn't comfortable and I can't imagine it'll be much better with a flag sticking in it! Well, all just part of the challenge! Getting to chat to the other pacers was also useful and I especially enjoyed meeting Helen (seen here, modelling our pacing 'uniform' supplied by CEP) 10 days and counting! Rock on! |
