A different route home... Just for kicks!
The second of June has not proved to be any less unseasonal in terms of climate! An extremely windy day meant my cycle commute was... exciting to say the least. I took an alternative route home, not because I thought it would be less windy but because it involved using slightly less busy roads and so I thought it might be just a touch safer. Going into the wind all the way, I'm certainly glad that it's at least downhill on the way home!
On a Tuesday this time last year, I'd have been dashing off to a track session at the Ethiad with Salford Harriers. While I am still firmly running in the red with white stripe, I've been doing an evening course that runs on Tuesdays so I've not been able to make it for tooooo long. I did, however, manage to squeeze (literally!) in to a 15 minute 'Awesome Abs' class at the gym before knocking out a 5k at marathon practice pacing speed. I have the treadmill set to 8.9km/ph, which I'm sure is right, but the Garmin (which is, to be fair, only going form cadence I believe with no GPS data) seems to think I'm going quicker than that. An average of 10:35 minute miles isn't too far off the 10:52 I'm supposed to be at though I guess so I'll have to make do with that for now!
Average Pace
Treadmill 5k for pace practice... Treadmill says 8.9km/ph. Garmin clearly disagrees!
