Hello and welcome to the very first Earth Heart post! Annabeth writes; If I’d been planning, I might well have tried to time this post to coincide with the recent vernal equinox, but actually the idea didn’t manifest until a couple of days after that, as I was gazing out of the window on the way home from a walk along the Kerry Ridgeway and a visit to the Poetry Pharmacy in Bishop’s Castle. Wondering what the next step was going to be in the intuitive unfolding of this new life with Nik (I left the community of Taraloka Retreat Centre in January) I suddenly felt inspired to start blogging again. I was slightly surprised by this idea, to be honest. I might have thought I didn’t yet have enough going on in my current sabbatical to have anything substantial to blog about. Every story describes some sort of journey though and I’m not sure that journeys ever really have a start or a finish so this moment in time is as good a way marker as any! There was also a rainbow waiting for us when we got home and I'm not going to ignore that sort of auspicious sign posting! |
Though I no longer choose to live so intensively in service as I did when I was in the community, managing the kitchen at Taraloka, I still want to invest my life in choices that make the world a better place. We all have the ability to heal ourselves, to grow and to develop in every area of our being and I believe that in sharing my journey on that path I can empower others to do the same in their own lives. I choose to live a life increasingly in line with reality, to live by and share the Dharma, to become more open and loving and to pour myself unreservedly into the pool that is collective consciousness change. Though I may now choose to live a far more secluded life than I was living six months ago, I can't do any of these things in isolation. This blog, indeed the whole Earth Heart project, is a way of sharing more widely my discoveries on my personal healing journey.
That’s far from all it is though! Nik and I both hope this will be a place to share our creativity, to chart the course of setting up the Earth Heart space for accommodation, arts events and healing.

It’ll be a place for me to share seasonal recipes, and talk about my meditation practice, post poetry and crafting projects and reflect on my relationship to the landscape around me. You can expect garden updates and growing tips from Nik and it’ll be a platform for him to share his sitar studies and experiences. We’ll post ideas about walks and places to explore when you visit and in the hopefully not too distant future you’ll see photos of landscaping, bell tents and compost toilets! There will almost certainly be unexpected turns in the tale… but it wouldn’t really be a story without those would it!? So, I didn’t get this together for the vernal equinox, and it is a bit of a rainy spring so far (don’t get Nik started on what that means for the future of the carrots) but it was a full moon at seven o’clock this morning and the primroses and aconites are blossoming. The green things stir, the sap rises, the feathered ones are fluttering with renewed vigour and Earth Heart springs into life... |
